ABPPOLYBLOCK
PERIMETER WALL PROJECT NORTH RIDING, JOHANNESBURG
ABPPolyblock
has been specified for the perimeter and plot dividing
walls of a 55 unit duplex housing development in North
Riding Johannesburg.
Foundations were dug and cast mid March and building
of the walls commenced on 26 March 2007.
The building is being undertaken by Harris and Associates
and all engineering design was done by MRH Consultants.
The perimeter wall has a number of functions in that
it needs to have a retaining capacity as the road and
pavement are in places over a metre higher than the
internal stands as well as being secure and aesthetically
pleasing.
The walls will use a combination of 180mm and 120mm
wide blocks with the 120mm blocks fitting into the 120mm
internal dimension of the 180mm block to form recessed
panels between the columns, the wall base and wall capping
blocks.
Prime
motivation for the use of ABPPolyblock was the speed
with which the walls can be erected without the need
for skilled labour.
